The National Vietnamese Venturing Supercamp (Trai Khai Pha III) Organizing Committee is pleased to announce Trai Khai Pha III, the National Vietnamese Venturing Supercamp, commissioned by theNational Vietnamese Scouting Committee of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). The Supercamp is scheduled for July 9-15, 2017, at Camp Emerald Bay on beautiful Catalina Island, California.

Trai Khai Pha III is a week-long program designed to allow Scouts at the Venturing level to experience new opportunities to test their skills and to meet other Scouts from across the country. This camp will offer a number of high adventure activities, utilizing the beach/waterfront and the camp facility for Vietnamese youth to be able to enjoy kayaking, sailing, canoeing, boating, snorkeling, and much, much more! As you can see, this “Trai Khai Pha III” camp will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Vietnamese youth to participate in a high-quality and exciting program.

Trai Khai Pha III is under the leadership of Camp Chief Katrina Huynh,. She and her committee are expecting 300 plus Venturers from more than 35 Lien Doan (family units) from across the country. Katrina may be contacted at 408-218-3992 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Our Scouts come from differing socioeconomic backgrounds, and many will not be able to afford the $275.00 camp fee that is necessary to cover the cost of the camp, much less travel costs. Therefore, we are collaborating with the community to plan a fundraising event in which all proceeds will go toward camp scholarships for underprivileged youth. The Supercamp Organizing Committee will be hosting a fundraising banquet on Friday, November 4, 2016, at 7:00 pm, at Mon Amour Restaurant, 3150 W.

Lincoln Ave., Ste. 134, Anaheim, CA, 92804. This banquet will include a seven-course dinner and entertainment. The entertainment will be provided by Truc Sinh Band, MC’d by Nguyen Khoa Dieu and Quyen Bao Chau, and our musicians include Diem Lien, Hoang Anh Thu, and more. There will also be raffle drawings.

Our Fundraising Committee would like to invite you and your business to sponsor a table at our event. Any donation, any amount, will go a long way in helping us provide this amazing experience for our Vietnamese youth. We know your time is valuable, and we will be very grateful for your attendance. Your donation will be tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law.

Katrina Huynh has been part of the Scouting program since she was nine years old, beginning as a Junior Girl Scout. As she got older, she became involved with Venturing Crew 222 and progressed through the program earning her Bronze, Gold, and Silver Awards, respectively. Through her participation in the crew, she served in many of the key officer roles such as secretary, treasurer, and vice president, and earned accolades within her unit f...or her dedication.

Katrina transitioned into adult roles once she turned 21, and is serving as the associate advisor for her crew and has participated as staff for several regional, national, and international events. She assisted in the Boy Scout/Girl Scout sub-camp program at Thang Tien 9, International Scouting Jamboree, and program staff for the first National Vietnamese Venturing Supercamp in 2012. Recently, she has served in more critical roles at Thang Thien 10, International Vietnamese Jamboree, with program as well as the most recent National Vietnamese Venturing Supercamp this past summer at Rancho Alegre, Santa Barbara, California as one of the program chairs. At the Supercamp, she also used her skills as a pediatric intensive care nurse and served as a medic for both of these events, proving that she can multitask critical roles and delegate necessary action items. Locally, she still coordinates camps for her home unit and is currently on the planning committee to host her unit's 30th anniversary camp, inviting several hundred scouters to participate in a weekend of program for all levels of Scouting.
